INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indiana Fever will raise its 2012 WNBA Championship banner and present Championship rings to players at its home opener in May, but Thursday the team's accomplishment was recognized at the Statehouse.
Lawmakers presented Coach Lin Dunn, Tamika Catchings and others with a Senate Resolution acknowledging them as last year's champions.
Catchings recently signed a new deal to remain with the Fever.
“It's really exciting to start my career and be able to end it here,” said Indiana Fever player Tamika Catchings. “So that's something that I definitely want to do. It's just the perfect place to be. The community has been awesome, coming off a championship season and hopefully this year, we'll be able to keep it going.”
The fever will play 34 regular season games including their season opener at San Antonio on May 24.
