INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Mayor Greg Ballard has declared Saturday, Oct. 27 "Tamika Catchings Day' in honor of the WNBA Champion's MVP.

Last week, the Fever won their first WNBA Championship and Catchings was named the Most Valuable Player. In honor of the team and the MVP's success, the Mayor signed a city proclamation declaring "Tamika Catchings Day.

In addition to the day of honor, Catchings is being honored with an award from Gov. Mitch Daniels, a Sagamore of the Wabash. The award is the highest honor an Indiana Governor can bestow.

Both awards are connected to the Simon Youth Foundation's and the Pacer's Foundation's annual fundraiser "Masquerade," which occurs at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday night.
