INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The WNBA announced new rules Thursday, including a crack down on flopping and the extension of the league’s three-point line.
The rule against flopping comes after the NBA considered a similar change.
"Flops that are intended to mislead referees into calling undeserved fouls or fool fans into believing a foul call was missed are a detriment to the game," said Renee Brown, chief of basketball operations and player relations, in a news release.
Violators will be penalized in the game.
WNBA officials are also moving the three-point line from 20 feet, 6 1/4 inches to 22 feet, 1 3/4 inches, to mirror the international basketball scene.
The other noticeable change is the addition of a defensive three-second rule. A violation would result in a technical foul.
