INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A group of Indianapolis business executives is laying the groundwork to launch a professional soccer team here in 2014.

It's simple website that has soccer fans crossing their fingers.

The site Indyprosoccer.com was created by a group of business executives who want to remain nameless, all with the dream of creating a professional soccer team in Indianapolis.

Steve Franklin with Indiana Soccer says the ownership group hired the former founding general manger of Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire to build support for an Indianapolis team's bid to enter the North American Soccer league in 2014.

“From the meeting I have had with him yes he is a very driven individual,” said Franklin.

A decision on whether to move forward with the franchise will be made in the next 60 days.

The team would play in an existing stadium, with plans to build an eight  to ten thousand seat venue within a few years.

Some of the possible venues for the team include Lucas Oil Stadium, the Michael A-Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium at IUPUI, the Butler Bowl, and Grant Park in Westfield.

If the team is sustainable a move to the MLS is possible according to their website.
