JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - The Center Grove High School Trojans will wear National Guard football jerseys at their Friday night game against the Terre Haute South Braves.

The Indiana National Guard made the jerseys, which feature the digital camouflage design of the Army uniform.

The jerseys were only available to a limited number of teams that requested them before their seasons began.

"We weren't sure what the response would be, but we ended up with requests from all over the state," said Indiana Army National Guard Maj. Mike Daake. "And then the reception at the games has just been great too. The fans, young and old, have responded with great enthusiasm."

Daake said the jerseys were the Indiana National Guard’s way of showing their appreciation to school corporations and communities throughout the state.

He also added that teams wearing the jerseys have had an impressive eight wins, zero losses so far.

Indiana's Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger will toss the coin at the game which is at 7 p.m. at Center Grove High School.

By the end of the season in October, eight more teams will wear the Indiana National Guard jerseys.
