INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - American motorcycle rider Nicky Hayden has already missed one MotoGP race and could miss a second next week.

After being diagnosed with a concussion and two broken bones in his right hand following a crash Saturday, the 2006 world champion was declared "unfit to ride" at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. He showed up anyway to support the race that is closest to his home state of Kentucky.

Hayden says he has two "clean" breaks in the hand and that it does not now require surgery. But if Hayden competes next Sunday in Brno, Czech Republic, doctors have told him the injury could become more severe and that he might need surgery. Hayden also is scheduled to undergo another CT scan Monday.

Hayden says he expects a decision by Tuesday.
