INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The NBA Draft is three days away and the Pacers are confident they will get the guy they want with the 13th pick.
President Larry Bird said he has his eyes on three or four guys. The team has brought in more than two dozen players over the past two weeks, including several with Indiana ties.
Bird said he doesn't go off of one workout and prefers players that have played college ball for three to four years.
"Pretty good draft, there's a lot of great players, you know, from 13 to 25 that I've seen that have a chance to really make an impact in this league. And there’s some of them that aren't going to make a big impact, they're pretty good college players, but they're not going to make it in the pros but they're talented. I like where we're at,” said Bird.
All Star Danny Granger knows what he wants.
"We always need another big man, you know. And depending on how Mike recovers from his injury we may need a wing player until he gets back. Then…the resigning of Jarrett Jack, and Marquis Daniels and I think everything hinges upon that," Granger said.
The draft is this Thursday night.
