INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The NBA players' union filed a grievance Tuesday on behalf of
Jamaal Tinsley, who has not been allowed to play or practice with
the Indiana Pacers this season.
Though Tinsley is listed on the Indiana roster, the Pacers
have said they don't intend to bring him back because of
off-the-court issues. He has been with the Pacers since 2001-02.
Last March, charges in connection with a bar fight were
dropped against Tinsley and teammate Marquis Daniels in exchange
for 32 hours of community service. But the Pacers deemed Tinsley
expendable in a roster shake-up that brought in seven new players
over the summer.
The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 19, and Tinsley has two years
and $14.7 million left on his contract after this season.
