Pacers: Granger out indefinitely for knee

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indiana Pacers announced Tuesday that forward Danny Granger has continued soreness in his left knee and will be out indefinitely.

He will get a second opinion.

Granger played parts of two preseason games. The team starts its regular season on Wednesday.

Pacers head coach Frank Vogel said on Tuesday that Gerald Green will replace the former All Star in the starting line-up.

"I think you talk to guys and make them understand that we still have a heck of a basketball team even with Danny out. We'll miss him, but David West is a beast, Roy Hibbert is a beast, George Hill is a beast, Paul George is coming. Gerald Green has been one of our best players in camp, and our bench is much improved, still. So still a lot of reason for optimism and looking forward to getting started.” said Vogel.

"It's tough because Danny's been our leader for so long. He really carried a lot of load offensively, and he was a force defensively as well. We have to regroup," said Pacers forward Paul George.
