CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - The Lucas Estate played host to an exclusive party Wednesday for those responsible for putting Indy's Super Bowl together.
You may recogine the hosts’ name. It’s on Lucas Oil Stadium. Forest Lucas and his wife, Charlotte, owners of Lucas Oil, opened up their Carmel estate to the hundreds of corporate and individual donors who supported the Indianapolis Super Bowl Bid and Committee.
Guests had access to the entire estate - including the Lucas' master bedroom. And the Lucases were also open with their comments on the big game just days away – and more, including Peyton Manning.
"Personally - I probably shouldn’t be saying this – I’d like to see Peyton be a coach for the Colts and take care of this young man … , Andrew Luck, who we probably going to bring on. He'd be a great coach, a great commentator. I just don't want the guy getting hurt, and I'm scared to death for him," said Forrest Lucas.
Charlotte Lucas added: "He's got a family now. He's got to think about that too."
Forrest Lucas also said everything has happened that he predicted would happen regarding the Super Bowl: that the city would roll out the red carpet better than any other city has ever done before. He said the downtown setup has already proven that by breaking all kinds of attendance records.
As for the possibility of the city hosting another Super Bowl, the president of the Super Bowl Host Committee said after this is Super Bowl is over, organizers are going to do an analysis and work with the businesses and the venues and the restaurants and see if the event was worth while. Once that is determined, they will decide if they want to go forward with a future bid.
