INDOT: Tuesday Allisonville Road restrictions

INDIANAPOLIS (INDOT) - Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors plan to restrict traffic on Interstate 465 Tuesday night to pour the concrete deck for the new Allisonville Road bridge.

Walsh Construction, the state’s contractor for the $19 million bridge and interchange reconstruction, will need alternating double lane restrictions in both directions during the nighttime operation. Walsh plans to begin with a single lane restriction in both directions beginning at 9 p.m.

As work progresses, the single lane restriction will be expanded to the two right lanes of eastbound I-465 and the two left lanes of westbound I-465. Restrictions will switch to the two left lanes of eastbound I-465 and the two right lanes of westbound I-465. All lane restrictions are expected to end by 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The Allisonville Road bridge over I-465 was closed approximately 110 days for reconstruction on May 30. The northwest entrance ramp from southbound Allisonville Road to westbound I-465 reopened one day earlier than expected on August 13 after a 14-day closure.

The southeast entrance ramp from Allisonville Road to eastbound I-465 closed August 2 for 15 days to reconstruct areas where the new and old ramp alignments overlap. INDOT is offering Walsh incentives for each day each ramp and the bridge are opened early. The contractor will be liable for monetary damages, barring any unforeseen circumstances, should the ramp or bridge closures last longer than expected.
