PENDLETON, Ind. (WISH) - State police are investigating a deadly accident on Interstate 69.
According to police, a semi lost control and crashed through the steel barrier on northbound 69 at the 17 mile marker near Pendleton.
The semi's trailer became detached and crossed into southbound traffic. An oncoming car was unable to avoid it and went underneath the trailer. At least one person in the car has died.
I-69 southbound is closed while police investigate the accident. Traffic is being diverted onto SR 38 to SR 37. Officers say the road will be closed for some time while the scene is cleared.
