Brush fires sparked along I-69

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - Brush fires along Interstate 69 made a smoky situation for drivers Friday afternoon.

Fire officials said multiple agencies responded to the fires stretching from about the Hamilton Town Center exit to Cyntheanne Road.

Fire officials said they believe the fires began when a large truck with a stuck wheel drove down the road. Debris from a burning tire was discovered. The dry vegetation on the side of the road was ignited.

The fires began around noon and took about an hour to extinguish.
