SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - I-74 has reopened after a deadly semi-truck fire that closed the highway since 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
The crash, involving a semi hauling diesel fuel, happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday at mile marker 105, between Indianapolis and Shelbyville. The semi driver was killed in the crash.
The Shelby County Coroner's Office identified the driver as 46-year-old Daniel M. Martin.
Because the flames were so hot, officials had to replace a portion of the highway involved in the crash. Traffic was detoured to London Road and North Michigan Road.
Officials expected the roadway to reopen around noon Friday.
However, all lanes east and west bound reopened around 7:45 a.m. Friday morning.
