INDIANAPOLIS (INDOT) - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will restrict traffic next week on Interstate 74 southeast of the city to repair drainage culverts under the interstate.
Beginning Monday, August 13 at 8 a.m., the right lane of eastbound I-74 will be restricted just east of Post Road (Exit 96) until approximately 3 p.m. The lane restriction will repeat each day next week through Thursday, August 16 as INDOT highway maintenance crews slip line two 150-foot-long culverts.
Slip lining is a relatively new method of reconditioning existing drainage structures by relining them with a plastic liner of approximately the same diameter as the existing pipe and filling the space around the liner with grout. Using this method prevents excavating the existing pipe, which requires much more disruption to traffic.
