INDOT: I-465 paving, restrictions

INDIANAPOLIS (INDOT - Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors will restrict traffic lanes tonight on I-465 between I-69 and Allisonville Road on the city’s northeast side.

In order to pave the surface lift of asphalt in the left lane, crews will restrict westbound I-465 to two lanes beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.  The single lane restriction is expected to end by 6 a.m. Saturday.

Three westbound lanes of I-465 are temporarily shifted to the right between I-69 and Allisonville Road as contractors replace uneven pavement in the left lane.  The ramp from southbound I-69 to westbound I-465 is temporarily reduced to a single lane that merges with the right lane of westbound I-465.

INDOT and contractors expect to finish pavement markings next week and return traffic to its normal configuration, with the left lane of westbound I-465 on new pavement and the southbound I-69 ramp to westbound I-465 open to two lanes, before Thanksgiving.

I-465 in both directions will have a 45 mph work zone speed limit in effect when signs are flashing during working hours.  Drivers should reduce speeds on I-465 and the Allisonville Road ramps.  Drivers should be alert for construction workers in the area, heavy trucks entering and exiting the roadway and Indiana State Police patrolling the work zone.
