INDOT: I-65 traffic restrictions

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (INDOT) - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announce contractors plan to work tomorrow night through Monday changing the maintenance of traffic on the I-65 added travel lanes project in Boone County.  Motorists should expect the following lane restrictions over the next few days, all work is weather dependent:

• Friday, December 14 around 7 p.m. crews will close the right lane of northbound I-65 from the south end of the project by County Road 100 East (Exit 138) to US 52.  This will last until approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, December 15.
• Sunday, December 16 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. crews will close one lane of northbound I-65 from S.R. 32 to just north of Prairie Creek.  The S.R. 32 entrance ramp to northbound I-65 will re-open Sunday afternoon.
• Monday, December 17 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. crews will close down one southbound lane from just south of US 52 to the south end of the project limits, near Exit 138.

Reith-Riley Construction Company, Inc. and designer R.W. Armstrong were awarded the $41,455,610 Major Moves design build contract.  The project on I-65 will add an additional lane in each direction and reconstruct the existing lanes of I-65 from six tenths of a mile north of S.R. 32 to one half mile south of Boone County Road 100 East.  This project also includes rebuilding the S.R. 39 Bridge over I-65 and the I-65 Bridge over Prairie Creek and rehabilitating the bridge over Lafayette Ave.  The project is scheduled to be completed in July of 2013.

This construction project has a reduced speed limit and has been targeted by the Indiana State Police and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department for increased enforcement activities in an effort to reduce speeding in the work zone.  INDOT encourages motorists to slow down and pay special attention while traveling in work zones throughout Indiana.
