MARION COUNTY, Ind. (INDOT) - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to lift traffic restrictions before Thanksgiving on US 52 at the Buck Creek bridge construction site east of German Church Road.
INDOT and Rieth-Riley Construction, the state's contractor, were able to maintain traffic on US 52 throughout construction, which started in March. The $2 million project built a new, widened bridge carrying US 52 over Buck Creek. Improvements were also made to the intersection of US 52 and German Church Road by widening the intersection radius to improve right turns and lengthening both the eastbound left turn and westbound right turn lanes on US 52 to accommodate increased traffic volumes turning onto German Church Road.
The bridge was built in two phases by shifting both directions of traffic to one side of the bridge as the other side was under construction. Contractors are currently finishing pavement markings, and all traffic is expected to be placed in a permanent configuration today or Wednesday.
