INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Due to the traffic flow challenges near Castleton Square Mall , the City of Indianapolis has decided to reconstruct its ethernet traffic signals for the very first time.
Roads will be closing on Allisonville Road over Interstate 465 . This project is expected to last through the summer.
The Indiana Department of Transportation chose to upgrade hardware and improve communication for 38 signals in the Castleton area. The project is estimated to cost around $1 million, with 90 percent federal funding primarily through the Highway Safety Improvement Program and 10 percent local funding match.
“With the closure of an important thoroughfare such as Allisonville Road, it is very important to limit the impact to businesses and commuters as much as possible. By upgrading the traffic signals in the area, we strive to bring a smoother ride to motorist during this construction project, as well as after completion,” said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard in a news release.
