Police say chase was safely executed

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - IMPD is reviewing its policy on police chases.

IMPD Chief Michael Spears said, “Every chase causes us to review our chase policy. Let me make a comment about that. It's my understanding, in this situation our officer observed this vehicle wanted in the robbery based on description on radio. The officer had to turn around to catch up to it to see if it was the vehicle involved.”

Spears said the vehicle started to accelerate, the officer did turn on police lights for safety and he says the chase ended quickly.
