After a brief break from light snow and sleet Friday morning, more snow and sleet moved into Indiana along an arctic from from the northwest. Not more than an inch or two was expected total, however, and much that fell early in the day didn't stick around long.
Forecast 8 Meteorologist Angela Buchman says snow showers were expected to fall on and off through mid-day Saturday.
Overnight lows are expected to be 10 to 15 degrees. Highs on Saturday will reach the 20s.
Indiana Department of Transportation was planning to send out 125 plow trucks at 3:30 p.m., but 15 drivers were already out at noon checking for trouble spots. Indianapolis Department of Public Works planned to have 75 drivers on the roads salting roads and bridges, and then switching to plowing as necessary.
The fast-moving system is expected to leave the state in the early morning hours on Saturday. Bitter cold winds and arctic temperatures move in for the weekend.
Forecast 8 will continue to track the storm system throughout the evening. Check the Forecast 8 Weather Blog for the latest updates.
