Snow showers begin to move in

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Flurries are starting to filter into Central Indiana, but will start to lighten up later Saturday evening. A quick dusting of accumulation can be expected from these lingering flurries.

Saturday night could also bring a chance for a freezing drizzle. However, the Forecast 8 team is tracking the second system that will enter Central Indiana Sunday morning.

Forecast 8 Futurecast shows the second wave of snow arriving by 10 a.m. Sunday morning. Between noon and 3 p.m. Sunday, light snow showers will be scattered across the Hoosier state.

The snow will start to lighten up by the evening, which will leave mostly cloudy skies for the remainder of Sunday.

Total accumulation by Sunday evening only totals up to 1 inch of snow. Minimal snowfall can still lead to hazardous driving conditions, so do not rule out the possibility of slick spots if traveling on Sunday.

Monday brings a larger wave of snow with the possibility of an additional 1 – 3 inches of snow accumulation.

Temperatures will remain in the mid 20s in Indianapolis throughout the evening, but will drop to the teens in the early morning hours.

Highs will only reach in the mid 20s for much of Central Indiana with temperatures slightly warmer to the south.

The snow chances will stick around for the beginning of next week. High temperatures will gradually warm up as the week continues reaching the 40s.

Stay tuned to the Forecast 8 Weather Blog for the latest weather updates.
