INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Storms struck northern and Central Indiana on Friday afternoon, and a funnel cloud was reported in one area.
Most counties in central Indiana had been under a severe thunderstorm watch until 7 p.m., but the NWS canceled that watch early, just after 5 p.m. Some southern Indiana counties remained under a severe thunderstorm watch through 10 p.m.

Delaware County Emergency Management officials said police officers reported seeing a funnel cloud. Damage was reported in the same area, though officials weren't yet sure if a tornado had hit anywhere in the county.
More than 18,000 customers were without power in Indianapolis as of 5 p.m., but by 6 p.m. that had dropped under 17,000, Indianapolis Power and Light reported. By 9 p.m., the number of outages was down to about 9,400. Check current IPL outages here .
Storm-downed power lines were blamed in at least one house fire .
Tens of thousands of Duke Energy customers lost power as a result of the storms. The largest hit areas were Hamilton County, with nearly 8,000 customers without power as of 5 p.m. By 6 p.m., that number had dropped to about 4,000, and by 9 p.m. it was under 1,000. Statewide, more than 50,000 customers were without power as of 6 p.m. By 10 p.m., that number had dropped to about 16,000. Check current Duke Energy outages here .
Howard County had more than 6,000 customers without power as of 5 p.m., but by 6 p.m. that had dropped to about 4,500, and by 9 p.m. it was down to about 1,800. Officials there were reporting power poles and trees were down, along with other damage.
Tree falls on vehicle, critically injuring passenger
One falling tree in Kokomo struck an SUV, critically injuring a passenger inside. Kokomo Police Department said the tree fell just before 3 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of South Washington Street. Susan Dietzen, who was riding in a Dodge Durango with her husbant, Anthony, who was driving, and their granddaughter, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo, then to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. The other two people were not injured when the tree hit the windshield of the Durango.
Other hard hit counties in the Duke Energy coverage area included Henry County, with more than 3,000 without power as of 6 p.m. - but fewer than 1,000 by 9 p.m.; Huntington County, with more than 2,600 without power as of 6 p.m., but fewer than 1,000 by 9 p.m.; and Johnson County, with more than 3,500 without power as of 6 p.m., but only about 300 by 9 p.m.
In Madison County, where about 2,500 were without power as of 6 p.m., a barn at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino was damaged by storm winds. By 9 p.m., fewer than 1,000 customers were without power in the county.
Indiana Michigan Power reported nearly 100,000 customers without power as of 10 p.m. Among the hardest hit areas was Allen County in the Fort Wayne area, where nearly 67,000 customers were without power as of 10 p.m. In Delaware County, more than 6,000 were without power. Downed power lines in Grant County prompted fires in some areas, as trees and power lines were also reported down in Carroll, Boone, Blackford and Tipton counties.
