Cooler temps can usher in drier skin

Don’t let the fun of summer leave a negative impression. Fall into a good skin and hair care regimen this season. Cooler temps can usher in drier skin and unmanageable hair – especially if you’ve been subjected to the harshness of pools, sea salt and lots of sun.

Check out these simple DIY scrubs and facial cleansers from Twinkle.

1. Make sure to moisturize every single day with a nutrient-rich face and body moisturizer. With the cooler air and brisk wind, you are more likely to have dryer skin, especially when the humidity lets go.

Twinkle’s recommendations:

Derma E Vitamin E Creme

Avalon Organics Rejuvenating Oil-Free Moisturizer Vitamin C

2. Schedule a deep hair care treatment every 4-6 weeks. You can do this at home, but make sure to do it on a semi-regular basis. Try using an all-natural hot oil treatment for replenishing your locks with nutrients. You can also make an easy DIY Apple Cider Vinegar treatment for an end of the season treatment to remove any build-up from heavy-duty shampoos, products and chlorine.

Twinkle’s recommendations:

Avalon Organics Thickening Shampoo Biotin B Complex Therapy

Monoi Tiare Tahiti Monoi Tiiki Tahiti Coconut Oil

DIY Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Treatment:
½ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup water

When showering, work this mixture through your hair, down to the roots. Let sit on hair for at least two minutes and rinse. . Only use this once every season.

3. Change your body scrub to an oil-based scrub. Adding some extra oil will help ease the harshness of some daily scrubs. One of the easiest ways to combat scrubs that may dry your skin is to add oil to your bath, like jojoba oil or almond oil. Natural oils – especially nut oils – add extra hydration and protein your skin needs to repair itself.

Twinkle’s recommendations:

Alba Organics™ Hawaiian Body Polish Sugar Cane

Sunshine Spa Herbal Salt Scrub Lavender

4. It’s always so hard not to lick your lips when battling the cooler air of the fall season. Make sure to keep some all-natural lip balm handy with an SPF for sun protection to keep your lips protected from painful cracking and dryness.

Twinkle’s recommendations:

Pangea Organics

Yes-to-Carrots Lip Butter

5. Use a weekly masque. There are plenty of DIY masques you can make, but a weekly application of a moisture-rich facial masque can help you keep your skin from drying out and replenish nutrients you might lose throughout the week from daily cleansing and exposure.

Twinkle’s recommendations:

Redmond RealSalt Clay

Alba Botanica™ Deep Sea Facial Mask
