Be positive and eliminate the stress

INDIANAPOLIS - There is nothing I dread more than picking out a new swimsuit each summer season. It’s definitely a big reality check if you’ve put on a few pounds or are out of shape.

Most of us have stress about our body image to some degree, but that can be practically eliminated with a little positivity and a few helpful bathing suit buying tips.

Before you get to the store, you need to assess your needs. It’s not necessary to wear a bikini. One-piece bathing suits can look even better when matched to your particular shape. Color can make a difference depending on your skin tone.

Sola Adelowo from ImageCube says, “The biggest reason women find it hard to find the right swimsuit is because they often overlook their own unique needs.”

She notes that body proportion is a major thing to take into consideration, as well as skin tone, something I think most people don’t consider.

For more of Sola’s advice on selecting the perfect suit at visit imagecubellc.com.

First things first

Prioritize Make a list of your best assets. If you have a great bust line, or if you want to emphasize your waistline or you’d like to look for suits that show off how hard you’ve worked on your abs, make these your first priorities for searching for the perfect suit.

It’s best to go in with a checklist of positive things about your body than ending up in a dressing room putting yourself down for the negatives.

Sizing Up

If you are more on the busty side of things, try getting a suit with a built-in bra and wider straps. Smaller straps not only won’t give you much support, but also will make you look bulkier.

For the other side of the spectrum, suits with lots of detailing on the bust area work well for helping emphasize this part of the body. Beading, ruffles and large bows will give you a little more oomph if you feel you are lacking in that department.

Toning down

If you are looking for a suit to give your curvy figure a more structured shape, then stay away from big floral patterns and try a suit with slanted or vertical color blocking.

Darker colors work best on larger figures, but if you are determined to wear bright pink, try and find a suit that has a vertical or slimming color-blocking pattern.

And it’s not always all about sporting a bikini. Don’t think that looking great on the beach means you have to wear some skimpy suit. Tankinis and one-piece suits can be just as attractive. Sometimes showing less is more.

Overall, the best thing you can do for yourself on a swimsuit buying expedition is to stay positive.
