(CNN) - The holidays are a time to shower our loved ones with gifts and love — and that goes for pooches, not just people.

Last year, Americans spent about $50 billion on their pets, and while the majority of that goes toward food and doctors' bills, $5 is related to the holiday season.

Luxury pet hotels are a pet must-have gift this year, and some facilities offer services for pets to tone up and pamper away the holiday stress.
