Make It | Holiday Gift Wrap Ideas

Gift wrapping is in my top five reasons why I love the holiday season. Although wrapping presents can get tedious, with a bit of creativity the wrapping can be as good as the gift.

The part that a really love about wrapping is getting to use alternative forms of wrapping materials instead of a super-sized roll of Christmas paper.

Mix it up. Use craft paper, elements from nature, vintage decorations, pipe cleaners, and more. The list goes on.

3 ways to spice up your holiday gift wrap:

Wrap it up – I’ll take it –

I’m content with using regular wrapping paper, but for those special gifts I really like making the wrapping something to remember as well.

This year I got my daughter a necklace I know she’ll love. Wrapping up a small jewelry-sized box, though, seemed to be a little boring.

Instead, I wrapped a vintage handkerchief around the box and added some satin ribbon to keep it together. After adding a bow and a tag, this gift came with an added a memory.

To get the whole gang involved, get the kids to create works of art on craft paper. You can ask them to personalize each piece for a special someone.

Put a bow on it –

There are many ways to improvise a sweet bow, from embroidery thread to jute to folded paper.

For the holiday season, incorporating some evergreen into your bow or gift bling is a perfect way to add a little zing to your wrapping.

I used some cuttings from our Christmas tree and a jingle bell to make these fragrant bows.

Whose is it?

Once you have your gift wrapped, the next step is to add a tag. Go green and recycle your old holiday cards into gift tags for packages and bags this season. Try out our step-by-step guide.
