NEW YORK (AP) - Pfizer said Friday that its drug Torisel failed to help patients with a form of advanced kidney cancer when combined with Roche's drug Avastin.
The study compared renal cell carcinoma patients taking the Torisel-Avastin combination to those taking Avastin plus another cancer drug.
Patients taking the Pfizer combination did not show slower disease progression than those in the other group. Pfizer said.
Torisel is already approved as a stand-alone treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma.
