Wife paid the man $1,750 for legal advice

AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) - A Travis County man was arrested on Monday after posing as an attorney while serving time in the Del Valle jail, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
According to the document, David Adam Crook, 35, told another inmate that he knew a lawyer who could represent him.
The other inmate told officials that Crook told him to purchase money orders for $1,750 and that the attorney he called "E.A Brock" would pick them up from his wife.
The affidavit said on March 28, the day Crook got out of jail, he went to the wife’s apartment and presented himself as Brock. The woman told officials that Crook showed her falsified documents, picked up the money and told her he was on his way to get her husband out of jail.
The inmate victim said there was paperwork where his signature was forged.
Crook is charged with falsely claiming to be a lawyer, which is a third-degree felony. His bond is set at $20,000.
