OAK LAWN, Ill. (AP) - Police in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn say they are searching for a very large version of Freddy Krueger, the villain of "Nightmare on Elm Street."

Oak Lawn Police Cmdr. Randy Palmer says the man, who was described as 5-foot-10 and weighing about 280 pounds, was wearing a Freddy Krueger mask when he entered a convenience store Sunday night. He was reportedly carrying both a machete and a Bowie knife.

Palmer says the store clerk was so surprised that he asked the man if he was serious. But the robbery was for real, and the man escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
