MALVERN, Ark. (CNN/KLRT) - An outstanding young football player in Arkansas is getting benched because of his talent.

Eleven-year-old Demias Jimerson is such a dominant running back that his league has reinstated a "mercy" rule. It bars him from scoring a touchdown if he has already scored three times and his team is ahead by 14 or more points.

Jimerson is being a good sport about it.

"I kind of got shocked because I didn't know it was going to happen. But it did. I'm OK with it," said Jimerson.

League officials say they aren't trying to punish Jimerson. They just want to make sure the other 21 players on the field stay involved.
