COLUMBIA RIVER, Ore. (CNN) - These fishermen had to fight off a sea lion while salmon fishing on the Columbia River Friday.
They had landed a wild Chinook salmon and were getting ready to release it back in the water, when the sea lion grabbed the net and swam off with the fish, nearly pulling one of the fishermen into the water.
Earlier this year, a federal judge allowed the capture and killing of salmon-eating California sea lions at the Bonneville Dam. It's the first dam the salmon encounter when returning to the Columbia River.
