UT: Public apology for 'egregious typo'

AUSTIN (KXAN) - The University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs on Monday issued an apology for an unfortunate typographical error that was published on its commencement program for last weekend's graduation ceremony.

"Our deepest apologies to our 2012 graduates for the egregious typo in our commencement program," the school said on its Twitter account. "We are working to distribute new programs."

Every industry has its potentially embarrassing hazards, and one of the chief hazards in publishing and media is the typo. Especially ones that turn innocent words into something less savory. 

Make no mistake, every publication and media outlet has had its share of slips of the keyboard.

If you are wondering what the typo in question was, just read every word in the LBJ School's proper name, and look at how the absence of one letter might mess up an otherwise tasteful commencement program.
