KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (AP) — Stewart-Haas Racing has signed Quicken Loans to sponsor Ryan Newman for nine races in 2012.

The mortgage financier is a new sponsor to NASCAR. The company says it will be an associate sponsor for Tony Stewart and for Newman on the races it's not already the primary source of funding.

Stewart says he takes pride in bringing a new company into sponsor-challenged NASCAR.

The two-time NASCAR champion won Sunday's race at Martinsville Speedway. It was his third victory in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship and moved him within eight points of leader Carl Edwards. There are three races remaining this season.

Stewart has been scouring the market for sponsorship for months and needs funding for the car Danica Patrick will race next season. Her limited Cup schedule is expected to be announced this weekend.
