BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Students in an Indiana University film class taught by actor and director Robby Benson have turned to the Internet to find investors for their film projects.
The students are tapping into crowdfunding, in which donors contribute small sums of money online to get projects off the ground.
The Herald-Times reports (http://bit.ly/19ZFPqz ) Benson's students are using Indiegogo.com in hopes of raising $10,000 to produce 13 short films.
Donors will receive thank-yous, such as signed movie posters, signed pictures from the casts and crews and a video message from Benson. Their names will also appear in the film credits.
Benson is known for his appearances in 1970s coming-of-age films and as voice of the Beast in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." He joined the IU Department of Telecommunications this fall.
