3 new ways to use salsa
In the mood for some yummy, homemade salsa? We are too!
Registered Dietitian Annessa Chumbley says salsa is easy, fresh, high in fiber and very filling, plus packed with nutrients. The perfect dip!
In our kitchen today, she shows us how to make our own!
Homemade Salsa
8-10 ripe Roma tomatoes, roughly chopped
2 Tbsp diced sweet onion
2 small cloves garlic, minced finely
1 bell pepper, chopped finely (any color! Yellow, Green, or Orange)
1 Tbsp cider vinegar
1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
1 can light red kidney beans, drained & rinsed
2 teaspoons raw & local honey
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
juice of ½ lemon or lime
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients in order. Toss to combine and serve with homemade chips, sliced veggies, or jicama.
