•    The DigIndy Art Project is designed to beautify what’s at your feed and showcase what’s going on below the surface. Citizens will work with a total of 20 artists – the first 5 (including Gary) were selected artists by the Arts Council; the remaining 15 will be selected at the First Friday event on July 6 at the Harrison Center for Arts.
•    These 20 artists will transform 20 manhole covers along the Cultural Trail. By the end of summer, you’ll be able to experience artists’ interpretations of DigIndy Tunnel along the Cultural Trail and will be inspired by Indy’s waterways.

About the DigIndy Tunnel
•    The DigIndy Tunnel System is a 28-mile long network of 18-foot diameter deep rock tunnels being built 250-feet beneath the city. Since 2012, Citizens Energy Group has been at work on this project, which is designed to store combined sewer overflow (CSO) after rain events. Upon completion in 2025, the DigIndy Tunnel System will reduce up to 99% of CSOs in area waterways.
•    Our water and wastewater investments will have enormous benefits on the quality of life and the local economy. Cleaner rivers and streams will lead to enhanced recreational opportunities and community revitalization

About the event on June 30
•    On Saturday, June 30, Citizens will host a live painting event to kick off the 2018 DigIndy Art Project. The event will take place from 10am-4 pm, featuring the first 5 artists who will unveil their art and paint the manhole covers on-site.
•    Join us for an hour – or stay all day and watch local artists transform manhole covers into masterful works of art inspired by Indy’s waterways.
•    Plus, a few Mass Ave. merchants will be providing special discounts to guests who pick up their “I DIG INDY” stickers at the event.
