Parent Café: Keeping Families Safe in Indy

(WISH) — Katy Mann has always one to encourage families to get out and about, today she’s here with two friends to ensure that when you are driving around with children in your car, that you’re doing it in the safest way possible.

Katy introduces Michelle Study-Campbell, Chief Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, and Michelle Chappelow, Child Passenger Safety Educator at Riley Hospital at IU Health, to talk about car seat safety.

The need for taking up residence at the Ronald McDonald House far exceeds the ability to host families, so Michelle had the idea to create Keeping Families Safe, an initiative to help prevent some types of injuries that bring families to the house.

On Saturday, September 22 at 9 a.m., Keep Families Safe will host a Safety Cafe at McDonald’s on the south side of Indianapolis (7911 US31 S, Indianapolis) where parents can learn all about car seat safety. This is especially important because children transition into different seats and seating positions several times during childhood.

Parents will be treated to coffee and muffins, some attendees will take home a swag bag and one family will be given a brand new convertible car seat.
