New FDA rules require food, alcohol calories to be listed on menus

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – New rules for chain restaurants require calorie counts to be listed for all menu items, including cocktails.

When you open up a menu at some restaurants you’ll  know exactly how many calories you’re consuming.

As of May 7, the FDA now requires all chain restaurants with 20 or more locations to post calorie counts on everything.

This might have you thinking twice about having a cocktail: a margarita has about 300 calories, a bottle of beer has about 150 and a pina colada has more than 600 calories.
