Deputies: Florida man tried to hide legless woman in storage container

WINTER HAVEN, Fla (WFLA) – A legless fugitive who was wanted in Orange County was found trying to hide in a plastic storage container at Polk County home, officials said.

Krystle Lee Anderson, 39, was captured Wednesday at the home of her boyfriend, 48-year-old John Robert Carr of Winter Haven, according to an arrest report.

Anderson, who faces multiple charges stemming from a hostage situation in Orange County, was wanted for failing to appear in court.

According to the report, in 2015, Anderson held several people hostage inside a Burger King with a firearm, which was later discovered to be a BB gun. The incident led to a shooting involving an Ococee Police Officer during which Anderson was injured and lost both of her legs.

She was arrested and charged with armed kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment and subsequently released from jail, but never showed up to her court appearance.

On Tuesday, Polk investigators learned she was hiding with her boyfriend at a home in Winter Haven.

When deputies arrived at the home, they made contact with Carr who said she wasn’t there, however, deputies say they saw him put Anderson into a plastic storage tote in one of the bedrooms.

Anderson eventually surrendered herself to deputies and was taken into custody without incident. She was booked into the Polk County Jail.

Carr was arrested for resisting arrest with more charges pending.

Online records show he was booked into the Polk County Jail.
