Fresno State says Randa Jarrar ‘did not violate any CSU or university policies’

FRESNO, California (KSEE) – Fresno State released a statement by Dr. Joseph Castro Tuesday in which he said a review showed embattled professor Randa Jarrar did not violate university policy in her comments about the late Barbara Bush.

Although Castro went as far as to call Jarrar’s comments “insensitive, inappropriate, and an embarrassment to the university,” there will be no punishment because “she was acting in a private capacity and speaking about a public matter on her personal Twitter account.”

The comments, which included calling Barbara Bush an “amazing racist” just hours after her death, sparked an immediate backlash on social media.
