Reports: 2 women shot at Georgia high school; 1 dies

Clayton County police said two women were shot Friday night in a parking lot of a Georgia high school, and one of them later died.

Clayton County Schools Safety Chief Thomas Trawick said shots were fired in a Mt. Zion High School parking lot after an argument between people who had attended a graduation ceremony for the Perry Learning Center, which prepares students for careers as an alternative to traditional high schools. The graduation was at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, which is near the school.

Trawick said he had no information on the status of the people who were sent to hospitals, but other authorities at the scene said the deceased victim, who was shot three times in the chest, was in her 40s. The other gunshot victim, who was shot in the leg, is in her 20s. A third woman was hurt when was pushed, but she was not shot.

Trawick said authorities were pursuing a suspect, but had no information to release about a suspect.

The shooting was reported before 9:30 p.m.
