Police: Woman found dead in near-north side house was shot

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A death investigation turned into a homicide probe Monday when authorities learned a woman found dead Saturday on the near-north side had been shot.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers about 1:40 p.m. Saturday went to a house in the 3600 block of Graceland Avenue on a report of a possible person found dead on arrival. They found the dead woman inside the home.

An autopsy performed Monday as standard procedure found the woman had been shot.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the woman once proper next-of-kin notification has been made, IMPD said.

Patrolman Michael Hewitt with IMPD public affairs said investigators have no suspects and are not questioning anyone.

People with information on the case were asked to call the IMPD homicide office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
