ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - A repeat child molester has his appeal denied Wednesday.
Our partners at the Herald Bulletin say 39-year-old William Everage appealed the length of his 253 year sentence for child molest charges.
The victims' families claimed Everage manipulated them so he could get close to their children. Everage told an investigator he started molesting children when he was 17 years old. Additionally, Everage didn't update his information on the Indiana sex offender registry following his release from prison, and was still shown online as residing at the Indiana Department of Correction.
According to court documents, Everage's attorneys say the court abused its discretion when sentencing Everage and didn't take into account his admission and cooperation as a factor in sentencing.
Wednesday, the appeals court upheld Everage's sentence.
