INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police officers arrested a man Tuesday after a 3-month-old on a heart monitor was found inside a hot car, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report.
Daniel Raine, 28, was arrested on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent. The 3-month-old and 21-month-old were both in a car in a Hardee's parking lot.
Officers said the engine was turned off and the windows were barely cracked.
They found a 21-month old girl and a 3-month old boy with a heart monitor attached to his chest inside the car.
Raines said he left the kids in the car for just a few minutes while he went to get their mom inside the restaurant. The children were allowed to go home with their mother.
At the time the children were found, the temperature outside was 83 degrees.
