ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - An Anderson real estate broker has been charged for an alleged rent-to-own scheme.
24-Hour News 8 news partner The Herald Bulletin reports Roger Shoot and his wife Pamela are defendants in the civil lawsuit where Roger failed to pay insurance premiums and property taxes.
Filings say Roger's company, P. R. Properties LLC, sold four houses as rent-to-own. Documents say he collected and pocketed more than $9,200 from as little as five people. That money was supposed to be used toward insurance premiums and property taxes.
Court documents say he used the money for personal expenses.
The lawsuit was filed by the Indiana attorney general's office this week.
The attorney general's office is seeking an injunction, restitution, court costs and civil penalties. The Real Estate Commission in a separate file asks that Roger's broker's license be revoked or suspended permanently.
Additional charges may be filed.
