INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - IMPD is seeking the public's help to find a suspect in an ambush and robbery earlier this month at a scrap yard.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said an employee at DAO Metals, 3327 E. North St., was attacked as he was transferring money to the business's warehouse Oct. 8.
The employee told police a man hit him with a blunt object and took money, but the employee was then able to wrestle the suspect to the ground and got the money back. When the suspect ran, two customers followed him.
When the suspect tried to hit one of the customers, one of them grabbed the weapon and hit the suspect several times in the head, IMPD said. The suspect, a black male about 30 years old with a heavy build, lost his shirt at some point during the struggles, as it was recovered at the scene.
A witness told police the suspect left the scene in a blue Oldsmobile Cutlass with someone else driving. The suspect is portrayed in the sketch above.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and information that leads to felony arrest may be eligible for cash reward.
