INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer is recovering following a police chase early Tuesday morning.
Investigators say the officer pulled a driver over near West 16th Street and Lafayette Road around 2 a.m.
The officer said he had his arm in the driver's side window when the driver suddenly took off.
The officer was dragged a short distance injuring his arm but is expected to be okay.
Another officer was able to stop the driver about three miles away near Lafayette Road and Kessler Boulevard.
Investigators say they think the driver was under the influence of drugs.

On Tuesday, Indianapolis Police Chief Rick Hite will promote 23 officers. Three sergeants will be elevated to the rank of lieutenant. Twenty patrol officers will be promoted to the rank of sergeant.
