LAWRENCE, Ind (WISH) - Lawrence police were investigating a murder-suicide at the Salem Courthouse Apartments Tuesday morning.
This is just north of East 56th Street, just west of Lawrence Central High School.
Police received a call for help shortly after 4:15 a.m. Tuesday. Police say the call came from inside the apartment and most likely came from one of the children.
A short time later, medics were called to the scene on a report of an injured person.
Investigators at the scene confirm two people, a husband and wife are dead. They are Jeff and Shelley Nelson, 31.
The woman was found dead inside one of the apartments
The man was found dead in a nearby wooded area of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police say husband was the apartment complex's maintenance man.
Two teens, both 15, suffered head injuries in the incident and police say are doing OK.
They were taken to Community North Hospital.
Three younger children, ages 5, 8, and 8, are being cared for by Child Protective Services personnel.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office has been busy calculating the costs of the David Bisard trial.
Some delivery workers, including USPS workers, are working in the dark to get packages to your door.
One week after someone shot and killed a Lawrence man during an attempted robbery outside his apartment his community is fighting back with cash.
