INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis mother is in jail after police said her threeyoung children were left home alone. Investigators said the twogirls, ages two and four, were found wandering outside. Policefound their one-year-old brother also alone inside the house.
Candice Pigee, 18, is in the Marion County Jail charged withthree counts of child neglect.
Investigators said the two and four-year-old girls were standingat 17th and Rural Streets, a busy intersection, when a goodSamaritan stopped them from crossing the street.
Willie Stone was the good Samaritan.
"They guided me down to the house where they stayed at. Thelittlest one push the door and went in," said Stone.
Stone said he yelled for a parent but no one answered and hecalled 911.
When police showed up, an officer also called for a parent.Instead, investigators said he found a one-year-old boy inside thehouse all alone.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the officer walkedinto the kitchen and found the stove on and the door open. The onlybathroom inside the house full of feces and the refrigerator hadspoiled meat inside.
"I smelled the odor when the little girl opened the door. Theodor kind of hit me in the face and I was like, 'This isn't good',"Stone said.
People who live in the east side neighborhood said they are notshocked.
"It's very disturbing, but I can't say that I've not seen it inthis neighborhood before," said a neighbor.
"(Stone) done the right thing. We have some good neighbors here,because sometimes this happens," said another neighbor.
Pigee's bond is set at $5,000. She scheduled to appear in courton Thursday.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office has been busy calculating the costs of the David Bisard trial.
